Involvement of the Academic Information Agency in the programme
The Academic Information Agency (AIA) helps to connect English teachers interested in teaching English as a foreign language in Czechia with Czech primary, secondary, and higher vocational schools. Our role is that of a mediator; teachers register with us and we provide their information to the schools participating in the programme. Schools currently looking for English teachers then use the provided information to select suitable candidates. Individual schools are fully in charge of the entire selection and hiring process, from contacting the candidates to concluding the work contract and taking care of administrative and legal necessities they are obliged to fulfil concerning the employment of teachers from abroad.
AIA is not an employment agency, we do not provide any kind of assistance, either to schools, or to teachers. We also do not offer legal or employment-related advice.
Joining the programme as a teacher
If you are an English teacher with appropriate qualification and are a native speaker or have a native-like proficiency in English, you can join the programme by registering with us by completing our TEACHER REGISTRATION FORM.
Please do not send your request, your details, or documents by e-mail, include all your information in the registration form only.
Please note that completing the registration does not automatically mean that you will be contacted, selected, or hired by a school.
Information on processing of personal data provided in the Teacher Registration Form
The teachers' personal data provided by completing the Teacher Registration Form (herein after "personal data") are processed by the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZS) as the data controller. Personal data are processed by DZS based on consent provided in the registration form, as the legal base for personal data processing (pursuant to Art. 6 GDPR, 1a), under the conditions stated in the document “AIA – Consent to the processing of personal data – Registration of English teachers” published on the DZS website. DZS will process personal data only for the purpose for which they were provided, that is, to register the teacher's interest and to forward the information they provided to the participating schools in Czechia so that the schools may contact the teachers about potential teaching positions. DZS retains personal data for a maximum of 1 year from the completion of the Teacher Registration Form. By withdrawing the consent, the teacher may require an earlier deletion of their personal data. After the retention period is over or after the consent is withdrawn (whichever occurs first). DZS/AIA will stop forwarding the person's personal data to schools and will delete the person's data without undue delay. For matters related to data processing by the DZS and for withdrawal of consent, please e-mail gdpr@dzs.cz.
By completing the registration form, the person registering also confirms that they have read and understood the general "Principles of personal data protection at the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research" published on the DZS website.
Free entry to Czech labour marked for citizens of selected countries
As of 1 July 2024, a Czech government regulation came into force introducing free entry to the Czech labour market for citizens of selected countries. Starting from 1 July 2024, citizens of Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the Republic of Korea, and Singapore, no longer need to obtain a work permit to work in Czechia. The free access to the labour market does not, however, provide foreigners with the right to reside in Czechia. Citizens of the above countries still must apply for a residence permit in accordance with the standard procedures. More information can be found in the leaflet of the Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
