Climate Neutral Blue Cities by 2030: Accelerating Local Change
On March 19–20, 2026, an international conference focused on accelerating the transition of port and coastal cities to climate neutrality by 2030 will take place in Limassol, Cyprus. The event is organised by the city of Limassol as part of the EU Mission for Climate Neutral and Smart Cities, with the support of the EU Mission for the Restoration of Our Oceans and Waters, and under the auspices of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The conference will bring together European and local political leaders, representatives of the European Commission, cities, ports, research institutions, industry, investors, and civil society. The discussion will address topics such as sustainable mobility, energy transition, climate-neutral cities, coastal resilience, and the role of the New European Bauhaus initiative. The event aims to strengthen cooperation, share experiences and solutions, and support transformative changes towards so-called Blue Cities in Europe. Limassol, as one of the EU Mission cities, will present its path to climate neutrality and the role of port cities in the green and digital transformation.
