International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI 2026)
From 2 to 4 December 2026, the International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI 2026) will take place in Rome under the theme Bridging Science, Society and Diplomacy through Research Infrastructures. ICRI is a leading international forum for strategic dialogue and cooperation on research infrastructures, bringing together researchers, policymakers, infrastructure operators, funding organisations and industry representatives. This year’s conference will focus in particular on the socio-economic impact of research infrastructures on research, innovation, regional development, public services and skills, as well as on their role as instruments of science diplomacy supporting international cooperation, openness and trust in today’s geopolitical environment. The programme will include plenary and thematic sessions, side events, an exhibition, networking opportunities and visits to research infrastructures, while also addressing internationalisation, long-term sustainability and governance, the use of data and artificial intelligence in science diplomacy, and the role of research infrastructures in translating research results into innovation and solutions to societal challenges. Pre-registration for both onsite and online participation is already open.
