Festival of the New European Bauhaus
The third edition of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Festival, organised by the European Commission, will take place in Brussels from June 9 to 13, 2026. The festival combines the themes of sustainability, architecture, design, art, and community development. This year's edition will focus on the transformative power of democratic participation and the involvement of citizens and local authorities in creating inclusive and sustainable communities. Special emphasis will be placed on affordable housing as a key prerequisite for the active participation of residents in shaping the environment in which they live.
The festival is structured around four main pillars:
- Forum, which will offer discussions and exchanges of views on the New European Bauhaus and related EU policies
- Fair, presenting projects and prototypes in line with NEB values
- Fest, which will connect culture, art, and public space
- Satellite events, i.e. accompanying events organised independently in Brussels and beyond
The New European Bauhaus Festival takes place every two years and is the main event of the New European Bauhaus initiative, which aims to translate the European Green Deal (GD) and the Clean Industry Deal (CID) into concrete solutions that improve the quality of life and the built environment. The festival also includes a call for satellite events and the NEB Trophy 2026 student competition, in which architecture, design, and art students design the first official New European Bauhaus award trophy.
