EduCafé: University as a Safe Space? Supporting Student Mental Health in Higher Education

EduCafé titled University as a Safe Space? Supporting Student Mental Health in Higher Education will focus on student mental health and on how higher education institutions can create safe, inclusive, and supportive environments for young people. The event will take place on Thursday, 4 June 2026, from 17:45 to 21:00 at ISELP, Bd de Waterloo 31, Brussels.

The discussion will feature Ms Charlotte Mathieu, Student Welfare Officer at the College of Europe, who supports students in the area of wellbeing, provides first-line guidance, and contributes to the development of an inclusive and supportive campus environment. We will also welcome Mr Stanislav Svačinka from Masaryk University, a psychologist working at the Masaryk University Counselling Centre, where he provides consultations to students and co-facilitates therapeutic support groups. The third speaker will be Ms Irena Pedro Hladečková from the University of Hradec Králové, who works as a Student Advisor at the Augustin Centre. Her work focuses on supporting students with specific needs, setting up appropriate forms of study support, and promoting inclusion. The discussion will be moderated by Kaja Kaczkiełło from the Erasmus Student Network, who has long been involved in student engagement, volunteering, wellbeing, and the creation of inclusive environments for young people.

The programme will begin with a debate at 18:00, followed by a Q&A session and networking with light refreshments.
