Creating Venture Builder Roles in Universities and Research Organisations

On 14 October 2026, the workshop Creating venture builder roles in universities and research organisations will take place in Brussels and online. The workshop will focus on developing support for the creation of venture builder roles within universities and research organisations. Its aim is to gather experiences, good practices and input from universities, research organisations, research and technology infrastructures, researchers, innovators and venture builders themselves, and to use these insights to inform EU policy supporting entrepreneurship and company creation in the research environment. The topic is linked to the EU Startup and Scaleup Strategy and its Lab to Unicorn initiative. Building on the first exploratory workshop held in June 2026, the event will focus mainly on practical elements of EU support for venture builder roles and their use in translating research results into entrepreneurial activities.
