EUROSTUDENT
The Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZS) has become the national coordinator of the largest European socio-economic survey of higher education students.
This international project connects European countries through a network of national partners responsible for data collection and analysis in their respective countries. In Czechia, the coordination and implementation of the ninth round of the survey has been taken over by DZS, succeeding the Centre for Higher Education Studies.
EUROSTUDENT is an international research project that regularly collects and compares data on the social and economic conditions of university students across Europe. It provides a comprehensive view of student life – from study financing and housing to mental well-being. The findings serve as a basis for shaping education policy, improving university conditions, and gaining a deeper understanding of students' real-life experiences.
The project’s outputs – including international and national reports, Intelligence Briefs with policy recommendations – are publicly available. They are used by researchers, university experts, and even students themselves, for example when deciding whether to study abroad.
Launching the Czech National Survey and Information Campaign
In May 2025, a questionnaire survey was launched targeting students in bachelor's and master's programs at all higher education institutions in Czechia. In cooperation with the universities, approximately 300,000 students will be contacted, including around 55,000 international students. However, the project has long faced low awareness among students, leading to low response rates.

To reach this goal, DZS is launching an information and motivation campaign in cooperation with universities and other partners. Its aim is to raise awareness of the project within the academic community and to clearly explain to students why completing the questionnaire matters. The main message of the campaign is simple: We want to understand your living conditions so that we can help improve them. Students who participate in the survey can also enter a draw to win an attractive prize in the form of a train ticket. Communication will take place on social media, through university channels, and in physical campus spaces.
The data collected through EUROSTUDENT will expand DZS’s knowledge base with current insights from all types of students in the Czech Republic. These findings will be shared with policymakers in the form of a national report and will help shape more targeted support measures to improve student well-being in the future.
