Industrial enterprises invested in 2021 most in ICT, health and green technologies

The EU 2021 Scoreboard compares investment in different R&D sectors and compares them with investment in US and China.

On 17 December 2021, the European Commission published the EU Scoreboard on industrial investment in R&D. For the first time in 10 years, the overall investment in R&D of companies in the EU has decreased. However, R&D investment in the healthcare sector saw a 10.3% increase, as did ICT services (7.2% increase), as these sectors have evolved rapidly due to the pandemic. However, other sectors such as the automobiles, aerospace and defence industries have seen a decline in R&D investment due to the pandemic.
