European Week of Sport will set Europe in motion this September

CZELO

The seventh edition will take place from 23rd to 30th September.

The European Week of Sport has already become a traditional initiative of the European Commission, which aims to promote sport and physical activity throughout Europe. Last year, more than 32,000 events were held in 42 countries, attended by almost 16 million people. This year, you can look forward to a week full of interesting sporting events and experiences as well.

The Commission, together with its partners, takes care of the programme, but all sports organizations, associations and local clubs are encouraged to take an active part. The aim of the Europe-wide initiative is to engage as many people as possible to raise awareness of the importance of regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle among them. The motto of the event says it all – #BeActive!

The Week is for everyone

In the Czech Republic, the event is coordinated on the national level by the Czech Olympic Committee. Clubs and sports associations are offered an opportunity to make their activities more visible in a shared calendar. At the same time, the Committee reminds them that on Wednesday 18 August, 50 events will be selected to receive a package of items, that can be used for example as prizes for participants. The same packages are prepared for sports organizations that decide to recruit new members at the end of September. To be included in the raffle, clubs have to fulfill two conditions: register in the calendar and organize their event/recruitment during the European Week of Sport. More information can be found on the Czech Olympic Committee website.

During the Week, inspiring individuals and projects will also be awarded the #BeActive Awards in three categories: Education, Workplace and Local Hero.

The main topics of the seventh edition will be joy, resilience and connect generations. The grand opening is planned for 23 September in the Slovenian town of Bled.

Erasmus+ Sport

The Erasmus+ programme offers a number of opportunities in the field of sport. Various sport organizations, from larger federations to local clubs, can apply for support for their international projects. Erasmus+ Sport actions are managed directly by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency. Information and consultations on these actions are provided by the CZELO office in Brussels, which is part of the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research.
