European Commission has published the long-awaited European Innovation Agenda, which complements the policies of the European Research Area that aims to build a single European market for research and innovation. The new innovation agenda is intended to make Europe a leading player in the global innovation scene, especially in the deep tech sector. It builds on scientific excellence, technology and engineering and on the principles of the European single market. The main objectives of the European Innovation Agenda are:

  • Improve access to finance for European start-ups and scale-ups.
  • Improve conditions for innovators to experiment with new ideas through living labs and regulatory sandboxes.
  • Strengthen and accelerate innovations in European innovation ecosystems across the EU.
  • Attract and retain talent in Europe.
  • Improve the policy framework by using more understandable terminology while providing political support to Member States.
