European Commission, EISMEA, EIC and the European Union Intellectual Property Office deepen cooperation
New agreement from 10 November strengthens cooperation in intellectual property and supports the market uptake of research results
On 10 November, the European Commission Directorate General Research and Innovation (DG RTD), the European Innovation Council (EIC), SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) signed a letter of intent for co-operation on intellectual property (IP) management.
The aim of this cooperation is to to translate results into the economy, ensuring market uptake of research output and Europe’s competitive leadership in technology.
The participating institutions will contribute to the dissemination of IP awareness and the development of IP management policies. They will also provide innovative SMEs with the necessary support and boost their innovation potential and improve the understanding of the benefits that IP can provide.
The current letter of intent is based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the European Commission and EUIPO on 16 April 2019, which allows the conclusion of arrangements and service level agreements between EUIPO and Commission services.
