CZELO

The Call is open until 2027 and aims to reduce the high costs of clean technologies and make European Industry more sustainable.

On 11 January 2022, the Breakthrough Energy Catalyst announced a call for proposals for large-scale green technology projects based in Europe. The call marks the first milestone of the EU-Catalyst Partnership officially launched in November 2021 and aims to trigger investments in high-potential projects in the areas of clean hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuels, direct air capture and long-term energy storage. The investments aim to reduce the high costs of clean technologies, speed up their deployment and thus enable European industry to become more sustainable. Financial support will take the form of grants and loans in the projects.

The call for project proposals will remain open for submissions until 31 December 2027 and will be evaluated on a rolling basis (no less frequently than semi-annually). Projects interested in obtaining funding as early as the first half of 2023 must submit their application by 13 May 2022 at which time Catalyst will undertake its first round of evaluations.

In this context, an informational webinar will be held on 25 January 2022, to address all essentials of the call in more detail.

The EU-Catalyst partnership expects a $ 1 billion (around € 820 million) investment mobilization between 2022 and 2026 aimed at acceleration, deployment and commercialization of innovative technologies that will help meet the ambitions of the European Green Deal, the EU’s 2030 climate target as well as the climate neutrality goals for 2050.
