The European Commission has published the results of the call for proposals for two-year financial support for European University Alliances.

The European Commission selected for funding 20 of the 36 applications submitted under the 2026 call, which was open to both already funded and non-funded alliances. The Commission launched the call primarily as two-year bridge funding for previously funded alliances whose grants expire in 2026, to help them bridge the gap until the start of the new programming period in 2028. Nineteen of the selected applications are from alliances that have received funding in the past, and the European Commission has now selected the application from the EuroLeague of Life Science Universities (ELLS) alliance, which previously held the Seal of Excellence.

The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague is a member of this alliance, making it the 14th Czech university to be part of a funded alliance. Among Czech universities, Charles University (the 4EU+ alliance) and Masaryk University (EDUC) received funding to continue their activities in this year’s call. All supported alliances are listed below:

Each of the selected alliances will receive bridge funding of up to 7.2 million euros over two years, with activities set to begin in the autumn or winter of 2026.
