Commission wants to improve inclusiveness, quality and recognition of voluntary activities
The aim is to promote volunteering of young people and to remove remaining barriers to cross-border mobility.
The European Commission published in January 2022 its proposal for a Council Recommendation on international youth volunteering, which is also one of the first concrete initiatives under the European Year of Youth. The proposal calls on Member States to ensure easier access to international volunteering for all young people, to promote a high level of quality among national volunteering organisers, to raise awareness of the benefits of volunteering, to promote green volunteering projects and to take further steps. The Commission calls on Member States to swiftly adopt this proposal.
