Applications for Jean Monnet projects in other fields of education and training are open

Erasmus+ CZELO

Applications for projects under the Jean Monnet activity can be submitted on the FTOP portal until the 1 March.

Erasmus + Jean Monnet projects have expanded since 2021 and they now target not only higher education sector but also other sectors such as school education or vocational education and training. The aim of these projects is to support education about the European Union and to help pupils and students learn how the European Union works and what is happening at political, economic, social and cultural level. Jean Monnet projects primarily aim to support teachers and educators to pass on this knowledge to pupils and students.

This year, it is possible to apply for two types of projects on the FTOP portal. The deadline for submitting applications for both types is March 1, 2022.

Learning EU initiatives in other fields of education and training

These projects aim to introduce specific content and subjects about the European Union in primary and secondary schools (ISCED levels 1-4). The topic can be, for example, the values of the EU, its functioning and history, its cultural diversity, etc. Teaching should take place at least 40 hours per school year for three consecutive years and may include, for example, study visits or project weeks. The content of teaching can be designed by schools themselves or with the support of higher education institutions or other relevant organizations. The aim of the projects is to enable teachers to teach about the EU in an engaging way, to increase knowledge about the EU in schools and to arouse interest in this topic among pupils and students.

More information on this type of project can be found on the European Commission's website, in the Erasmus + Program Guide and in the booklet “Learning EU in school”.

Jean Monnet teacher training

These projects are intended primarily for higher education institutions or teacher training institutions and agencies. Their aim is to organize activities for primary and secondary school teachers (ISCED levels 1-4), which will enable them to develop new skills and competences in the field of teaching about the European Union and thus support these schools in planning and introducing this topic in their daily formal and informal activities. Activities may include, for example, providing content and methodologies for teacher trainings, organizing individual or group trainings for teachers, or strengthening teachers' confidence in introducing these topics into their daily teaching.

More information on this type of project can be found on the European Commission's website, in the Erasmus + Program Guide and in the booklet “Learning EU in school”.
