European Commission has published a tentative calendar of European Research Council (ERC) calls for 2022.

The calendar is preliminary, so further changes can be expected. The work program for 2022 envisages the opening of calls for all five grant schemes. The ERC Starting Grant (StG) should be open from September 2021 to mid-January 2022, with an increased budget of 757 million euro. The ERC Consolidator Grant (CoG) is expected to open from mid-October 2021 to mid-March 2022 and will get its budget increased to 784 million euro.

On the other hand, the ERC Advanced grant (AdG) budget will be reduced to 561 million euro and the submission of the proposals will be accepted from January to April 2022. Contrary to work program 2021, Synergy Grant (SyG) and Proof of Concept (PoC) calls are expected to open in 2022. SyG call should be open from mid-July to mid-November 2021, with a budget of 300 million eur.

The PoC should have two open calls in 2022, with the same budget of 25 million eur for both times. The first PoC call for 2022 is expected to be opened from mid-July to mid-October 2021, and the second one is planned to be opened from mid-November 2021 with three different cut-off dates – in February, May and September 2022. The precise dates are available in the preliminary call calendar.
