The programme AKTION is focused on fostering mutual understanding between the Czech Republic and Austria. It supports the enhancement of bilateral cooperation in research and education in all scientific areas.  The programme funds the cooperation projects which aim to enhance new cooperation as well as to boost the existing cooperation. It supports the projects involving young researchers and project which are promising for receiving financial support from other funds (EU programmes, etc.), too.

Two types of activities are supported:

  •   individualstudy stay scholarships and research scholarships for the stay in the second country and for participation in the summer language courses and summer schools.
  •   institutional – funding of cooperation projects of Czech and Austrian institutions in higher education; see the guidelines for project proposals’ submission, financing and conclusion.

The executive body of the programme is the steering committee (five Czech and five Austrian members). The members are representatives of their respective Ministry of Education and institutions in higher education. The steering committee assesses three times a year research proposals of cooperation projects. The AKTION scholarships committee of experts awards the applicants with scholarships months.
