Research fellowships at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic

Research fellowships at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic are intended for Czech compatriots living abroad. They focus on maintaining and spreading knowledge of the Czech language and cultural consciousness. Compatriots may study subjects such as Czech language and literature; Czech language and literature pedagogy, history, ethnology, art history, or theology. These one- or two-semester courses are held in Czech, usually at the Faculty of Philosophy of a university in the Czech Republic.
Students who are accepted receive a scholarship, a financial contribution towards travel to and from the Czech Republic, and are entitled to board and lodging for the same price as Czech students. Health care costs are covered within the scope laid down in Act No. 326/1999 Coll., on Residence of Foreigners in the Czech Republic and on Amendment of Some Other Acts. Upon completing their studies, students receive a graduation certificate or confirmation. Application forms are available at Czech embassies and at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Culture and Compatriot Relations, Rytířská 31, Prague 1. Application forms may be submitted only via Czech embassies, and must be submitted by 31 March for the winter semester and by 31 August for the summer semester.
